What we have been up to

Thanksgiving at the Gibbs.  We had a great time and the food was delicious!

Made Christmas wreaths. (in the process of changing the flooring)

Adele had her dance performance at a high school basket ball game.  Tyler was glad to watch the basketball game. Adele did really well she is remembering the dance step well.  She must be growing up.

She was so excited to have gotten her "alligator" move down.

Adele was one of two Students of the Month in her class this month.Then get there picture hung up int the school for the month and a free candy bar from Sam's Market.

My brother and sister cut this vinyl out for me.  Isn't it cute?

No Carpet in the KITCHEN!

Our entryway / laundry /  mudroom with the new flooring.

 (I have tryed to post two other pictures.  I can't see them, but I hope you can.  Trying to post pictures can drive me crazy sometimes and other times there are no problem.)
I love the our new flooring!  It was just finished yesterday. It looks like it was made just for our house. Today I have been sanding the baseboards.  I was just about to start painting them when I opened the can of pain, and what was left was dried out.  So while I wait for Colton to wake up from his nap I'm going to share our floor with you!

Make a "Crazy Turkey Game"

I made this turkey game after seeing it on this blog today

I made my turkey's different colors because I did not have enough dark brown to make more then one turkey. (It was snowing outside also and I did not feel like going anywhere.)  I used buttons on the eyes, and did a blanket stitch around the turkeys with brown thread (with my sewing machine).  Other then that I did what the tutorial said.

It is an easy came like candy land with colors.

Non eatable Thanksgiving Turkey

I made this Turkey with my friends a few weeks ago.

We drew a pattern on paper then traced the pattern onto some scrap piece of pressed wood.  I held the wood steady while my friend cut the wood.  I was afraid to fun the saw.

Then we spray painted all of our turkey feathers and body.  Then we cut out paper and mode podged it to the feathers.  I added a antique gel to the feathers.  Add the accessories after it is dried and glued together.

The May Flower

I saw a ship like this in a Kids Pottery Barn Catalog and thought it was fun for Thanksgiving, but I was not about to pay the $30 sum dollars for it!  So I made my own! 

 In the picture they filled there May Flower with gourds and pumpkins.  I had a few form my garden but it took to many to fill.  So I filled my ship with floral foam and flowers I had bought for another project.  The sails are held up with odds and ends sticks, dowels, even the twisty thing for my blinds!  It was a fun table piece!   My husband made wanted me to it leave it at my Mom's because she had more room to "store it".  It was on the large side.

Turkey Cookies?

I found these turkeys in the Family Fun mag. a long time ago.  We decided to try them last year for Thanksgiving

I learned:

Must use double stuff Oreo s or Off brand (the candy corns will not fit other wise, and you have broken cookies to snack on.)
Use honey to stick candy on then you can't see the frosting mess!
Also I saw Our Best Bites did these turkey with a Reeses Peanutbutter Cup as the body and then used the wopper as the head. 
When it comes right down to it the kids scarf them up so fast it does not matter what they look like!

Wood Pumpkins

After the last post I realized I did not post these Pumpkins Last Year.

• My friend cut the out the wood pieces for 2x4 in boards. 
• Paint them the colors want
•  Mode poded paper (all three of ours looked very different)
• Then we sprayed it with antiquing spray of some sort.
• Then hot glue them together.  I stacked my a little cricked on purpose.
•  Add what ever leaves ribbon you want to embellish your pumpkin.

Fall decorations

I decided to post my "shelf arrangement" after a friend came over and liked them.

This shelf just has fall decorations added to existing decor.

A little boy was camera jealous and wanted his picture taken too.

Trying Again and more Info.

The top two flowers were made with cutting the triangles out of the circles then melting each cut.

The fabric on this flower is thinner and it melted easier giving it that ruffly look.

On the Posie looking ones are made like all the other ones you see.  Except  I sewed them together with a needle and thread.  Then I pinched the back and sewed the pinch together (?)

When I hot glued the bead instead of putting it in the center I folded over the first layer.


This post may be a repeat of what I POSTED yesterday, but I can only see two of the flowers when I look at it!!!!  I added a few more instruction, but I'm not very good at writing instructions.

I remember in 2nd grade my teacher gave our class an assignment to write direction on how to make a peanut butter sandwich.  Needless to say when my teacher read my instructions and then did what I wrote to do she reached into the peanut butter jar with her fingers and then smeared it on the bread.  Great learning activity!

When the boys are away the girls will "Craft"

Cam was gone this past week on Round Up.  So I got crafty and watched all the episode of Glee on Netflix! (I really like the singing, not so excited about the morals though.)

Would you like to see what I did with my Friend and Sister in Law who's husbands were also on the Round Up.

I have more flowers but I'm having trouble loading them.  I thought I would post these and try again later.    

• I made these by cutting out circles of different sizes. 
• Then I cut little triangles around the circles to make it look like petals.
• I cut a small piece to go on the clip.
• Then I melted the edges of the petals with a candle or lighter, also on the clip.
• I added tool and things between some layers, or cut out leaves from the tool
• To make the flowers have more dimension I "pinched" the laysers together and sewed them with a needle and thread.

 My friend found a witch like this on a blog last year.  We both copied the idea and used what we had other then the orange tool I bought it.

I Mode Podged the paper and chipboard letters.
Then I painted the back and sides.
When the Mode Podge was dry I used glitter paint to add more turquoise.
The tool and ribbon are half hitched on to a foam wreath.
(I wanted the back to look descent because I would be looking at the back more then the front with my front door having a window.)
The boots are two layers of felt.

I also made a Christmas Present which I can not talk about yet! (just encase one of my kids decides to read this.)
